Michael Bradley has finally found a new home. Bradley has signed with Chievo Verona of Italy's Serie A. It is reported that Chievo Verona is only paying 1.2 million euros to acquire the American from Gladbach. Chievo Verona is a middle of the road Italian club, who finished 11th last season in Serie A.
Chievo Verona will formally introduce Bradley tomorrow at noon according to his agent Ron Waxman. Bradley is expected to make his debut in the club’s opener Sept. 10 at home against newly promoted Novara, but he is currently waiting for an Italian work permit, which should not be an issue.
Good to see Bradley finally secure a move away from Monchengladbach, where his prospects were looking less than bleak. I'm interested to see how Bradley will adjust to life in Italy. Italy is a relatively unfamiliar place for American internationals. It seems that all of the Americans who make it to the big European leagues end up either in England, France or Germany. Of course, Oguchi Onyewu signed with AC Milan, but injuries and poor form kept him from ever featuring.
Before Onyewu, Alexi Lalas played with Calcio Padova, but besides for Lalas Italy remains relatively uncharted territory for Americans. Hopefully Bradley can break into the first team and continue to develop his skills.
